Prof. Vijayam accepted Christ in his young age and got involved with various ministries from his student as an active volunteer. In addition to a Ph.D. in Geology from Osmania University, India, his academic achievements also include post-doctoral studies from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, as a Smithmundt – Fulbright Scholar. In 1995 he was awarded “Scientist of the Year Award” by the Indian National Science Academy for his outstanding contribution to the field of Science & Technology.

After 30 years of service in the government and universities in India and overseas, he was led to train Christian workers as tentmakers by initiating TENT ministry along with his wife Mary Vijayam in the year 1985.

Mrs. Mary Vijayam is the co-founder of TENT ministry. She was educated at Women’s Christian College in Chennai in the field of education and received two Master’s degrees from Osmania University in Hyderabad. She attended a semester taking graduate level courses at Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, USA. She also spent a semester at Dallas Theological Seminary in a six month program designed for mission leaders.

She taught Mathematics, English Literature and Philosophy at high school, undergraduate and graduate level during her long career as an academician. She was also principal of St. George’s Grammar School, Hyderabad, which has over 3,000 students.

She currently leads TENT along with her husband, Dr. B E Vijayam. She enjoys spending time with the trainees, especially the women from across India and Nepal. She teaches Bible study skills, Kingdom principles, health and hygiene, food and nutrition and communicating Gospel to UPGs.
